El Salvador soccer stadium stampede leaves at least 9 lifeless, hundreds injured: officials
A stampede at a soccer stadium in El Salvador on Saturday left at least 9 individuals lifeless and hundreds of others injured, officials stated.
The lethal crush occurred as followers reportedly pushed via an entry gate throughout a Salvadoran league quarterfinal match between golf equipment Alianza and FAS at Monumental stadium in Cuscatlan.
The National Civil Police confirmed on Twitter that there have been at least 9 deaths and that two of the injured have been in important situation.
Carlos Fuentes, spokesman for the primary support group Rescue Commandos, additionally confirmed the deaths.

“We can confirm nine dead — seven men and two women — and we attended to more than 500 people, and more than 100 were transported to hospitals, some of them were serious,” Fuentes advised The Associated Press.
A commotion within the stands started simply 16 minutes into the match, with followers waving frantically as others carried the injured out of a tunnel and all the way down to the pitch. The match was subsequently suspended.

A volunteer with a primary support group described the chaos to journalists as an “avalanche” of followers who apparently burst via a gate into the stadium.

El Salvador President Nayib Bukele tweeted that there might be an “exhaustive investigation” of the catastrophe.
“Everyone will be investigated: teams, managers, stadium, ticket office, league, federation, etc,” Bukele wrote. “Whoever the culprits are, they will not go unpunished.”
The Salvadoran Soccer Federation stated in an announcement that it regretted what had occurred and voiced assist for the victims’ households.
Cuscatlan is about 25 miles (41 kilometers) northeast of San Salvador.
