Debris reportedly found in South Carolina after F-35 stealth fighter jet disappearance; USMC pauses air ops
A particles discipline has been situated by navy officers amid their investigation of the F-35 jet that disappeared in South Carolina on Sunday.
Joint Base Charleston advised Fox News Digital that the particles discipline was found in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. Officials didn’t verify that the particles was from the lacking plane.
A pilot ejected from the plane on Sunday afternoon after a “mishap.” The jet was a Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II that belonged to Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.
The pilot landed on the bottom safely and was handled at a neighborhood medical middle.

After asserting the invention of the particles discipline on Monday night, a Joint Base Charleston spokesperson introduced that they’re transferring command of the incident to the United States Marine Corps.
“Members of the community should avoid the area as the recovery team secures the debris field,” a spokesperson advised Fox News Digital.
“The mishap is currently under investigation, and we are unable to provide additional details to preserve the integrity of the investigative process,” the assertion added.
The state of affairs has perplexed Americans, together with South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace, who mentioned she had a really uninformative briefing on the incident.
“One of the shortest meetings I’ve ever had, bc guess what, no one @usmc sent over to brief me and my staff had any answers,” Mace wrote on X, previously often called Twitter. “Shocker.”
Earlier on Monday, the Marine Corps introduced that there could be a two-day pause in operations “to discuss aviation safety matters and best practices.”
The department referenced three Class-A aviation “mishaps” over the previous six weeks as the principle purpose for the stand-down. During the pause, Marines will give attention to measures corresponding to correct flight procedures, floor security, upkeep and fight readiness.
“This stand down [is] being taken to ensure the service is maintaining operational standardization of combat-ready aircraft with well-prepared pilots and crews,” the Marine Corps mentioned in a press launch.

“This pause invests time and energy in reinforcing the Marine aviation community’s established policies, practices and procedures in the interests of public safety, protecting our Marines and sailors, and ensuring the Marine Corps remains a ready and highly-trained fighting force,” the press launch added.
