Connecticut woman’s leg bit off in shark attack in Turks and Caicos, police say
A 22-year-old Connecticut girl had her leg bitten off in a shark attack whereas she and a good friend had been snorkeling in Turks and Caicos, native police stated.
The girl, who has not been recognized, was taken to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre in critical situation, the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force stated in an Instagram statement.
Police stated the girl and her good friend had been snorkeling Wednesday simply after 3 p.m. exterior a resort close to the Leeward Marina in Providenciales, one of many islands, when she was attacked. A spokesperson on the resort, nevertheless, stated the girl was not a visitor and the incident doesn’t have something to do with the resort or the Leeward Marina.
“Our understanding is that she was the guest of another resort and the client of a boat excursion company, neither of which we are affiliated with nor located near,” spokesperson Stephanie Mack stated in an announcement.
Authorities stated that the worker of a resort situated in the neighborhood of the Leeward Marina referred to as police concerning the shark attack and requested an ambulance. The worker indicated that the girl had her leg bitten off by a shark, the police assertion stated.
